Music Tip

YOUR EVENT/RECEPTION MUSIC SELECTIONS

Although it is your special day, you should consider the musical tastes of your guests along with your own. I meet with many brides and grooms/party planners, and once in a while I encounter an occasional music issue. Once in a while, a bride or groom/event planner will have a misguided vision of their reception/party, or want to carry a 'theme' too far. One bride I met only wanted Country music played at her reception because it was the only music she liked. I explained the different reactions we might create by not considering the other 200 guests at her reception, but she insisted. Reluctantly, we agreed to go with her plan. As I expected, after only 20 minutes a guest rushed to the DJ booth and asked, 'Is this all we are going to hear all night?'. I was instructed by the bride to send all requests directly to her, so I did. After half the guests voiced their opinion to her and were not dancing, she finally came to the booth and told us to do what we had to do. We packed the dancefloor with a perfect program of popular music mixed with requests and classic party jams. We would occasionally bounce back to Country for transitions to keep her theme going. It was an incredible success. Since that experience, we make sure that we are a good match in every way with our couples/event planners. Indianapolis dj

The Tequila Sunrise
Tequila Sunrise is a personal favorite because it tastes and looks great. The grenadine adds a fine sweetness to the orange juice and tequila and becomes more prominent as you get toward the bottom of the glass. The story behind the drink says that it was first served in Cancun and Acapulco in the 50's to welcome tourists but, after a brief surge in 70's discos, it lost much of its limelight.
Ingredients
4 oz orange juice
2 oz tequila
1/2 oz grenadine
orange slice for garnish
maraschino cherry for garnish

Patriotic Theme Party Ideas

God Bless the USA! Our summer parties center on patriotic celebrations. It starts with a parade and a Memorial Day Party, goes to Flag Day and culminates in fireworks at a 4th of July party.
Patriotic parties are just fun, fun, fun! The decorations are classic (red, white and blue) and the food is delicious
Start the party with a fun personalized patriotic party invitation; there are plenty of great red, white and blue invite designs. You can add extra fun to the invite by sprinkling some patriotic confetti in the envelope!
If your plan is to potluck, be sure to indicate this on the invitation. Don't forget to let people know if they need to bring bathing suits if there will be swimming!
With just a few well placed patriotic party supplies (sold here at our very on webstore), you can make your party incredibly festive. Start with a personalized patriotic banner in the front yard to greet all your guests. A great multi-purpose decoration is flag bunting. It is great on railings, fences, windows, doorways... almost anywhere! And you can reuse it year after year for Memorial Day and the 4th of July!
It's a perfect time to get out the grill, yard games (volley ball, football, corn hole, etc. No party is ever complete without music of some sort. Of course we always recommend hiring a professional DJ :)
Please feel free to add your ideas in the comment section!!
